FAQs

How will I know if counselling is right for me?

We can agree an initial meeting at which I will answer your questions and explain how I work. This initial meeting will by about 30 minutes, and may help you to decide whether counselling feels right for you. This meeting is entirely free regardless of what you decide.

How long is a session?

Sessions usually last for 50 minutes, although this is negotiable.

How much does it cost?

An hour's session costs from £40, payable at the time of the session in cash or cheque (supported with a current bankers' card). Unfortunately, I do not have the facility to accept cards. I will travel to meet you in your own home if that is more convenient but may need to charge another £5 per session depending on the distance. I offer a discounted rate to counselling students in training.

Will what I say be confidential?

Yes, subject to a few potential restrictions (for example, imposed by law). We can discuss this when we meet if you would like to, or at any time during our relationship. I am a member of the International Society of Psychotherapy and Counselling and abide by its Ethical Framework.

What time can I get an appointment?

I can offer flexible appointment times, including evenings.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Appointments can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before appointment time. If you cancel within 24 hours, I may charge.

If you have any other questions please contact me and I will be pleased to answer them.
